  • Smooth Repeating Fabric Issues

New to this whole rendering thing. All of my rendering is office furniture. I'm always dealing with square sample fabric swatches from one manufacturer or another. My question is this...

Sometimes the fabrics are less perfect than others. So when the fabric repeats in the rendering, there are obvious breaks. Here is an example:

The rendering came out decent. But if you look at the green, you can see the lines where the square fabric swatch is lighter on one end than the other or doesn't quite line up. Is there anything I can do in VRay/Sketchup to help minimize this, or is this strictly a Photoshop thing? I'd gladly take any Photoshop advice too...

    Thanks!

what you need is to create a "tillable" texture, which fits between border. You can google some tutorials on that topic.

      Hi igendreau,
I think the best for these kind of low-resolution textures is to hide the texture in the render and use a procedural map instead.
The first step is to add a diffuse layer under your primary diffuse layer, set to the color of the fabric. Then add a "TexAlpha" material of white to your first diffuse layer to make the texture invisible (see http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...d-for-SketchUp ). Then I would use one of the procedural textures in your bump map option to replicate a cloth material - something like TexNoise or TexCloth. The scale for the map would be really small, like .001
