  • changing V-Ray rectangular light size

I cant seem to find an option other than scaling to change the dimensions of a V-Ray rectangular light, how do I change its size? Also there are options for point, spot and direct lights. Spot and point seem to be the same other than the barn door effect? Is there any other difference? I am looking to replicate a 3ds Max standard spot light and not sure which one is best to use.

    Hello there,

Currently there is no option to modify dimension of the Vray Lights - Rectangular , Sphere , Spot - their size can be changed only by scale tool.
Vray Spot Light and Point Light are different from each other - Spot Light emit light in conic shape while Point Light emit it from a point - could you please let us know why do you think they are the same ?
3DSMax Spot Light could be replicated with Vray Spot light - although Vray Spot doesn't provide such a great control over the light shape as Max Spot Light does.

      Hi James
As Svetlozar said we don't have in our UI any option to change the size of the Lights, but in Rhino 5, you can use the "BoxEdit" panel to manually change the dimension of the lights.

Thanks both for the info. Sorry I was just reading the settings on the V-Ray help menu when referring to them being the same. I was just after which ever one is best for replicating a 3ds Max spot, I will try out the spot light and see how it goes.

        Thanks again!
