  • Rhino to 3ds Max Workflow

    Hello all,

Could you guys share with me your workflow - step by step - on your Rhino to 3ds Max workflow?

For instance, what format do you use when exporting the model, and what you need to do.. etc..

    Thanks

    Hello there,

3DS , FBX and OBJ should work best for transferring polymesh geometry.
There are also another type of files supported by both applications - but it depends on what kind of geometry you want to share between the them , so it is best to experiment with all formats and pick the one that works best for your scene.

However, importing IGES files may be enough for you - i've had good results just doing that in the past.

Doe's IGES not explode polysurfaces? I prefer STEP for NURBS data interchange.

Yeah, sorry I forgot. I export each layer to a separate file. Any time i've done that it's with a model from an architect which is split up into material layers.

I remembered it working well for certain things but couldn't remember which situation.
