Effects would not render in maya

hi everyone,

i am new with this. i have set up a simple flameball for test. set up a GPU preview.

when I hit the render button it does not show anything but just black and the sphere ball in a lambert shade in Maya.

Can anyone help??? I

did you change the render engine to VRay?

yeah, i changed it to Vray right at the beginning.

Can you render the sample scenes? For example phx_simple.ma?
