  • Output channels usage?

    Hey guys,

i'm a bit lost with the output channels.
How can i further use them to improve the final rendering of my fire or smoke.
I just can't find out how to use them exactly...

    regards

depending on your needs you have to select different output channels. for example, if you need the simulation only to drive PF particles, you have to export only the velocity channel.
or if you need ordinary smoke/fire, you have to export the temperature and the smoke channel.

Okay, but at first i thought the exported channels can be used in a compositing app.
But these channels are for phoenixfd internal usage right?
So when i have exported temperature and smoke channels
how can i "re"use them further?

      thanks so far mate...

i see however note that the panel is called "output", not export. the output just determines where to keep the simulation, and which part of the simulation to be kept.
without the output you will be unable to render, neither to see the simulation in the viewport. so, the cache files are used very intensively, they are not for "reuse", if i understand you correctly.
the input path and output path are by default connected, but you can disconnect them and to use the simulation box just like a shader for already prepared simulation.

          okay thanks for clarification.
That means i can modificate the general look of my effect with these outputs in combination with
the colors and transparency window right?
