  • Help a fellow newbie out, please!

    Hi!
New to the forums and to Vray for Rhino, mostly.
I'm trying to use a chainmail fence .vismat on a cube, but am failing horribly. I have two problems:

    A) The material is supposed to be see-through but I can't get the black parts to stop being opaque in the render I'm getting this yucky thing for some reason: (it's a rhino cube set on a Vray infinite plane)
    B) The net does not continue smoothly from one face to the next. The renderer interprets each face independently.

I'm using the first material found in this webpage: http://sketchupvraymaterials.blogspo...label/wiremesh

Any help is more than welcome!
    Cheers!

    A) is the cube sitting exactly on the plane? That could cause trouble. Try hiding the plane.

    B) are you using a box map? The default mapping on boxes is wacky. Use a box map to achieve better control. But keep in mind that it is very difficult or impossible to wrap a texture smoothly around all six sides of a box. Has to be a special map, very particular geometry.
