  • [Wish list] Material editor

I wanted to post in wish list section but I didn't have any permission to post there so I posted my wishes here
I think it will be great if you add two extra buttons to the material editor dialog first of all a sample paint (to pick materials from scene) button and the second could be a paint bucket (to assign selected material to faces and etc) because some how while suing vray materials the original skup material tools are not useful and to select a material we must start skup material dialog and it is somehow bother user ..

Also I will be good if you add a search ability to find materials in material editor dialog

    Thanks a lot,
    Majid

the native SketchUp material is linked to the V-Ray material. If you apply a SketchUp material, you are also applying the corresponding V-Ray material. I rarely use our material editor to apply materials.

But I think finding materials from sketchup material dialog is not easy.specially when we use large icons because it doesn't show a good preview.

if you select the material in our material editor, it should select it in the SketchUp material window also. Then you can use the bucket tool as you normally would.

Yes but I think it is easier to use paint bucket in vray material editor and also to find materials we can use a sample paint it vray material dialog provide it. we don't need to use sketchup native dialog

                      hi,

yes am2 you are right when we have many materials in our model its hard to find in bucket tool.
but when we create a new material in model like Tile you can rename "1) Tile_Mat_1 (Living), 2) Tile_Mat_2 (Bedroom), . . . . . Etc"
its help to find in bucket tool.

but your point is good. I think search bar we are need in future . . . . .

I agree, If we create our materials with an alphabetical names or as you mentions in an organized way it will be easy to find materials.
                          Thanks,

another helpful hint, in the V-Ray material editor, if you select a material in the list and then press a key on the keyboard, the selection will automatically jump to the materials that start with that character. If the same character is pressed multiple times, it will iterate over the materials that start with that letter.
                            Best regards,
