Speed up rendering time

Hy Everyone,
I use sketch up Pro2013 with VRay 2.0 that I just got it last week.
I try render a simple interior scene ( with the best quality )
And it takes loong time..it is going to two days and still running?!?
Is there anyway to speed up the rendering time?
(Im using intel i5 3.20ghz, 4GB DDR3 Ram, 500GB HDD, windows7 64bit)
If I need yo get better computer which one right for me:
A workstation or a Render server?
My budget is around usd.8000,-

I think if you were to properly optimize your scene, image sampler, materials, lights and so on you will be able to render it a lot faster. You will need few weeks-months to learn it tho. So you can either pay some1 to teach you, self teach or totally ignore these options and buy hardware for compensate for bad render settings...

2 days sounds insane for rendering with V-Ray, unless you're rendering very high resolution using Brute Force. I suspect there is something seriously wrong with your render settings, possibly way too many subdivs somewhere. Using Irradiance Map as your primary and Light Cache as your secondary you should be able to render even complex scenes in less than an hour on a i5 3.2GHz PC and with the right setup the quality is comparable with Brute Force.

Did you really mean that your budget for a workstation is Eight Thousand US Dollars?!! You could buy a good render farm for that.

I realized I adjust the subdivis to 32 for some materials.. That is must be the problem.
Yes I am serious want to build better rendering machine.
My question is how to do render with render server in Vray for sketch up?
Which one better CPU or GPU or both?

32 is pretty medium/low. So thats not it. I think you better off with CPU based machine. Also I think it will be even better if you can post ur scene here so other sketch up artists can have a look at it and suggest what to tweak in order to make it work faster...

I think you can take some screenshots of ur scene settings, materials and lights. Then we can have a look at it. Also if you can explain what resolution u render to and so on that would help. You can use forum attachments manager to upload pictures to.

Just to give you some reference point for render times, the attached interior view, which is clearly very simple, renders in 15 minutes.
Reflections, lights and glossy materials all tend to add to render times.
Have you checked out the video tutorials on the chaos site - they are really helpful.

Yes finally I found out the problem..
Thanks for the advice it is takes between 2-3 hours...
But I still look for the new comp..
So if you dont mind which one the best for Vray sketchup? CPU, GPU or both?
