  • Dynamic Memory too low error, VRAY Stops rendering

V-RAY stops rendering at random intervals & when I check the script editor or the renderLog I get this message

[2013/Oct/20|04:57:53] V-Ray warning: Performance loss: dynamic memory limit too low
Warning: Performance loss: dynamic memory limit too low

    Maya scene:-

VRAY Settings for the above scene (No GI):-

    Machine Info:-

NOTE: Tiled EXR were giving me unwanted results for some reason, so I'm using 16-bit tiff files, not very heavy, all are in Kilo-Bytes under one Mega-Byte.
My V-Ray version is 2.30 with Maya 2013

    I tried
    • Default values
    • Restarted Maya (set my scene to wireFrame before saving) and my PC
    • Opened a new scene, imported the scene and set the values again
    • Tried rendering more than 8-10 times, with no luck whatsoever

    Please Advice
    Regards
    -Govind

Tried rendering again on a 1080p res, but no luck.
    Stopped at 61%

... and did you check how much is your dynamic memory limit and try to increase it?

Yup i tried all that, didn't work.

ActuallI I had created a similar post in CGTALK (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthre...98#post7681298) & the reason seem to be VRAY's renderTime SUB-D.

If you have tried with lower subdivisions, it's probably some sort of issue with the subdivision algorithm with your mesh. If you can share the scene with our support, we can tell you more.

max subdivs 30 could be high. Generally 8-12 is more then enough. Try reduce that and see if it makes it better.

By default V-Ray tesselates subdivision surfaces very finely to almost pixel resolution. In many cases this is not at all needed and is a waste of resources. To improve this, set the max subdivs in the V-Ray displacement settings to 8 or 16 (which will produce 3 or 4 subdivision levels respectively). You an override the settings separately on objects that need higher detail.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

Dmitry, I did lower it 10 but since my tyre here (http://imageshack.com/a/img163/1933/o7s8.jpg). But my displacement was all jagged and uneven. So I tested a lot of value and settled on 30

Hi Vlado, that's exactly what i did, I did not give everything in my scene 30 SUB-D but only to ones I needed details (especially displacement).
But when I removed and rendered with MAYA's MESH>SMOOTH SUB-D it worked for 1080p; However a 4096 image is still not rendering and throws me the error about memory loss. Some people suggested me to keep my dynamic memory at 30,000 I have 32GIG RAM. is that advisable?

At that point it might make more sense to increase the "Edge length" a bit - maybe 8 or 16.

Ivaylo, shall I put up a dropBox link with my scene in it?
                      Thank You!

Did the "Edge length" help? If you still have problems, you can send the scene to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com.
