  • Buckets inconsistent with fur and distributed rendering

When I have a texture on the fur generator mesh, my DR buckets don't match. The machines are getting the texture all right, but the hairs themselves get rendered in different places on each machine. If I take the texture off, it renders fine. If I leave the texture, but hide the hair, it renders fine.

    Anyone run into this?

Well, now that I posted this I got it to render after turning off an on each slave in the vray DR settings. It was definitely screwing up across two different scenes. I'm back to trying my original scene again.

      Hello byronnash

Would it be possible to send us a sample scene with that setup for investigation ?
Let us also know which Vray/Maya versions you are using.

Thank you very much in advance.

            Hello byronnash

Thank you very much for the scene.

I run a few quick tests but I am not able to reproduce the issue here. Would it be possible to attach the full scene with all the textures and etc.
I have replaced the missing textures with another ones but again the issue doesn't persist.
Please let us also know what is the exact name of the build you have installed - all nightly builds versions are 22501 and this number doesn't identify anything, we will need either the exact name of the build or its release date.
We will also need a few screen-shots of the issue in order to compare with the results we have here.

Thank you very much in advance.

The problem hasn't come up much in the last few days. Yesterday I changed to build 24501 (beta 3.0 1? 11/14/2013). I will let you know if it happens again and send another scene in.

                Its a V-ray 2.x (24501) nightly build.

Actually, I'm finding the buckets are different for different machines. I just started rendering buckets of frames on different machines and am seeing differing distributions of hair per machine. This, of course makes my renders unusable. Thoughts?

I looked at the sequence of renders more carefully and now am pretty certain that the differences are when the frames go from windows to OSX or vice versa. All the frames rendered on OSX line up and all the ones on PC, but not mixed. It seems the hair is distributed slightly differently on each platform.

Ahhhh you are rendering between Mac and Windows - now we are able to reproduce the issue with the same Vray build.
I am going to update our system with this bug and I'll let you know when we have some news about it.

                        Hello byronnash

We would like to inform you that the bug about VrayFur discrepancies between different OS's has been fixed.
The fix is now available only in the latest Nightly Builds but it will be also available in the next official Vray 2.x and 3.x release.

Thank you very much for your collaboration.
