  • VRay-Fur + Projection map problem

    Hi all,

I am new to the forum and am not allowed to post in the problem section - so I need to post here. Sorry.

With VRay Fur I want to create the background gras for an environment. Our Foreground Gras will be rigged Geometry (needs interaction).

The surrounding will be quite huge and we will need to shoot in various places. Therefore I want the foreground to be moveable to different parts of the enviroment.
At the Position of the movable foreground no background-gras (fur) must grow.

My approch is to pipe a "rigged" Texture into the densityTex of the Fur. In my tests I used a projection-node and can constraint the place3dTexture to my foreground rig.
    (see Screenshot)

In the Maya viewport everything works fine - the preview fur streaks are in the right position.
But when I render get the error message // Error: Exception [module=1] : Compiling geometry

I tired to pipe the projection-node into some other nodes and connect them but it makes no difference.
Without the projection-node it works perfectly. (see Screenshot)

Has anybody an idea on how to get the projection node working (or has other solutions)?

    Thank you very much!
    Simon

Can you attach the Maya scene here? This came up before, but we didn't get a scene and things seemed to work fine on our end.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

        hi vlad,
thanks for the super fast response!

        I have uploaded a demo:
        https://www.dropbox.com/s/yi5spvm7ax...-Blend_Test.ma
It is done with Maya 2014 Service Pack 3 on a Windows 7 machine. I can't find the version of VRay - but the installer name is "vray_adv_24001_maya2014".

        All the best,
        Simon

          Hi Simon,

Thank you for the scene file.
Actually this is a bug and it is fixed in our internal/nightly V-Ray for Maya builds.
