I'm doing some research to make sure my scene is really in fact rendering with Linear Workflow. I've read several tutorials and think I have my settings about 95% right. I was testing the difference between using the check box in the render settings ("Linear Workflow") against putting a vray gamma texture node thing ("Enable input texture correction"). I was expecting them to be the same once I changed my two textures to have gamma correction. But the test shows totally different results.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Ok simpliest way to test if ur linearworkflow is correct.
Open image in photoshop
render image in maya as a self illumination object only. Use SRGB switch on VFB. If they are identical you have linear workflow. Your vray settings should remain 1/1/1 white/dark/gamma. Ur texture should have vray gamma correction.
If its unclear... Ur render should be pretty much the same as image in photoshop.Last edited by Dariusz Makowski (Dadal); 26-11-2013, 01:13 PM.

I"m still getting mismatched results. Not a huge amount, but noticeable. I set it up like you said using a vraylight material. No GI, no lights. With gamma correction.
Also, changing the gamma in color mapping doesn't have any affect, nor does "convert image to srgb for renderview".

The problem is that Linear Workflow checkbox doesn't influence all channels - for example it takes into account Diffuse channel but not Reflection one.
Color Slot of the VrayLightMtl is also not taken into consideration and that's why the result is different than what you are expecting.
Our recommendations are to use Input Texture Corrections instead of Linear Workflow checkbox in order to avoid such issues.
