  • The leaf shape from proxy shows in cubical shape after render

Sincerely Apologized, I accidentally send that previous message My question is The trees leaf that we get from Vray proxy. It does not show real shape of leaf The result after render show something like cubical ..?!? How to get result a nice real shape of the leaf after we render it?

    Hi Yoshi,

The shape of proxy leaves depends on how the original tree geometry was created. For example, OnyxTree can export both square (actually, diamond) shaped leaves, but also more realistic maple leaf shapes. If the UV mapping is correct in the vrmesh, you should be able to just drop a leaf diffuse bitmap and clipmap in the leaf texture to get realistic leaves. However, it's very important that the clipmaps are only hard-edged black 0,0,0 and white 255,255,255 with NO GREY PIXELS. Blurry clipmaps with grey pixels increase render time enormously.

See Peter Guthrie's brilliant tutorial for super-realistic V-Ray leaves: http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/200...utorial-leaves

      Hy Jackson,

      Thanks for the prompt reply,
I got the 3dmax model from evermotion so do I need to adjust the clipmaps before I export to the mesh only or I need to adjust one by one leaf through the onyxltree as per what Peter said?

      Please advice

      Best Regards

I'm not sure if I understand correctly: are you exporting the vrmeshes from 3ds Max or from SU? Any commercial tree assets should already have correctly UV mapped leaves so it should be a simple case of replacing the existing leaf diffuse and clipmaps with your own. I haven't personally used Evermotions trees, but I know that they are sold fully-textured.

I don't know where you read about "adjusting leaves one by one", Peter Guthrie didn't write anything about that (nobody has the time to that anyway).

        Hope you can resolve this,

            Hy Jackson,

Looks I mix up with the what I read in Peter Guthrie tutorial with others information..
            My apologized for that,
            Anyway finally I make it!
I use transparent map in SU after I fix the 3dmax model

            Thanks for your assistance.
