  • PhoenixFD Dual grid sim

    Heya

Was just watching http://www.itsartmag.com/features/ma.../#.UpkN8MRbmSM and one of sims captured my eye. Mainly one of last explosions it looked like there was dual sim going on. One detailed for fire and one low grid for smoke. All and all they do look good so I was just wondering can phoenix do that or will be able? Could be userfull things if we can control different liquids and components grid separably to optimize to our needs?

I don't have FD so thats why I post here

    Thanks, bye.

yes of course, you can blend in the rendering as many simulations as you need.

yes we have resimulation with upres (wavelet turbulence), but the question is - why the smoke should be low res? when you resimulate, you can resimulate it too, no need to resimulate the fire only, the cost is the same, it's even cheaper to resimulate both the fire and smoke instead to render two separate grids.
