  • animation(prepass)/animation(rendering)

I have a 1000 frame animation with moving camera and moving object, i have split it in to 4 part in (0-250),(251-500),(501-750),and (751-1000)

can i use animation(prepass)/(rendering) method to render this?
If yes, how should i do it? ( it is a bit confuse after reading some thread from vray starting page and others from internet)

    Regards,
    Jackie

      Hi,

can i use animation(prepass)/(rendering) method to render this?
Yes, should work for this case. You will get 1000 Irr map files at the end of the calculation, then load them (Animation rendering) at the rendering stage.

I´m using the latest Beta and vray is trying tp load the calculated irrmapps from another location used earlier months ago. I solved this by copying the files there but it´s anoying. Is this a known bugg ?

I am not aware of that bug - could you please give us more information about it and which is the exact Vray/Max version you are using?
Make sure that the correct path is specified into Irradiance Map rollout File field.
A reproducible file will be very helpful in order to track down the issue more effectively.

Hi Tashko Zashev, sorry to disturb you again and thanks again for the help in previous post, i have finished my short video and have no problem with the result.

But i heard from someone recently, that eventhough i am using animation(prepass)/animation(rendering)method for my short video, i still have to:

              * 1st - i still have to change the primary and secondary bounces to light cache, calculate and save it

              * 2nd - change the primary bounces to irradiance map and secondary bounces to light cache ( light cache from file this time ), calculate and save it.

              * 3rd - change animation prepass to animation rendering, primary bounces to irradiance map (but from file this time), secondary bounces to none, then press for the final render.

he is this is the only way that Vray will save the light cache into the irradiance map. but it didn't mention in the vray starting page, i wonder do i have to do like what he said?
              Best regards,

                  Hi Jackie,

                  Sorry about the delay.
Actually you can skip the first step by precalculating Irr Map and LC solutions at ones (Animation prepass).
Then use only the Irr map files at the Animation rendering stage (secondary GI to " none")

Tashko Zashev, thank you for your reply.

actually i was follow the step by step tutorials to finished my video from the vray starting page, and the result is fine and good.

                    my method is as below:

                    * 1st - i set irradiance map and light cache with animation prepass and save it.
                    * 2nd - i set irradiance map to from file and secondary bounces to none with animation rendering.

i guess it is the same way from your reply, right ?
                    Best regards,

sorry to double confirm, with this method i have used, did the light cacha sample has save into irradiance map?

Yes, secondary bounce data (LC ; BF) is always saved to the Irradiance map (in case that you save it to a file). So you can use the prcalculated Irr map at the render stage and set the sec. engine to None.

If you save the irradiance map to a file, you will have all the GI data stored there, primary and secondary. So basically, you will need only to load the irradiance map file at the animation rendering stage and leave the secondary engine to None.
You can follow the animation tutorial available on our web site, http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help...ials_anim2.htm
