Same scene, different build, and some strange refflections...

  • Same scene, different build, and some strange refflections...

    Hi to all,

    as you can see in attached picture, there is difference in reflections on those two renders.
    Strange thing about this is because everything is the same - same materials, textures, etc... just different V-Ray build.
    For some reason, and I think it is important to mention that all textures are PNG, when I changed glossy texture to JPG format,
    reflections in new V-Ray build are more like in the previous build, they are not anymore too reflective, but they are not the same.
    Does anyone know why different texture format give so different result?

    Just to add, to be more precise - both renders are with the same PNG textures, everything is the same except V-Ray build.

      Can you attach or send to the support a scene with the matterial that is producing this difference?

        Hi Ivaylo,

        yes I can, if you are interested I can upload to Wetransfer (or similar) part of the scene and textures for concrete material?
        Could you please give me some email, where I can send the link for download?

                The issue was related to the "Alpha Is Luminance" option for png textures in the 2.4 build I think. It's working properly in 3.0.
