  • could not save settings

    I can't change license settings. says "could not save settings". I am running it in administrator mode. I also edited the vrlclient.xml by hand but to no avail.

      Right-click on the setvrlservice program (or the Start menu shortcut) and select "Run as Administrator" (regardless of whether your user has administrative privileges or not) - then it should work.

      Best regards,
      Vlado
      I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

        Thanks Vlado, but I am right clicking and hitting Run As Administrator Mode. Makes No Difference.

          Hi,

          Do you have any restrictions set on your machine, for an example limited access to the system folders and files?
          Would it be possible to try the following:

          *) Copy vrlclient.xml to another location (C:\temp\ for an example)
          *) Edit the new file according the settings you need and save it.
          *) Set Environment variable (https://kb.wisc.edu/cae/page.php?id=24500) to point this location :
          VRAY_AUTH_CLIENT_FILE_PATH = C:\path\to\configuration\file\

          Let me know if this helps you.

            I moved the file and changed environment variable. No luck. Still says it can't save settings.

              I see that one of my colleagues in the office has replied to your support ticked about the same issue. Did you received our reply already?

                The response so far was run as administrator and check folder permissions. The current user, administrator, system, & trusted installer have full permissions. The C:\Program Files\Common Files\Chaos Group\ has the same permissions and so does vrlclient.xml. The C:\Program Files\Common Files\Chaos Group\ is marked as read only but every time I uncheck read only and click ok; then reopen properties, it is checked again.

                  SOLVED IT. If you do not have the vrl service installed there is no need for VRAY_AUTH_CLIENT_FILE_PATH. This setup is remotely retrieving license from a network server.
