Hello, I'm looking for some advice regarding a mobile workstation for doing renderings with v-ray. I'm more if a programming guy than I'm an actual creator of 3D scenes so keep that in mind.
The renderings will contains of different light sources and different materials (think of the interior of a car) with multiple render passes for the different light sources for post composition. The images will have a high resolution (4k). With the images it should be possible to get an impression how the finished product will look considering the used materials and the mood under different lighting conditions. I have no control over the material-shader. Obviously the faster the render times the better.
I looked at the machines from boxx-tech (http://www.boxxtech.com/products/mobile-workstations). They come with a very hefty price tag but seems to include all you can ask for in a workstation.
Does anyone has experience with mobile workstations in general or the one specified in the link above and is willing to share his knowledge? How do they compare with desktop boxes, a more traditional setup with a Core i7 CPU and high-end gaming card. render times, and so on.
Power consumption and such is a non issue but it has to be mobile so I can carry it around showing the project I'm developing to different clients.
Greetings.
