  • PhoenixFD light trouble

Hello! I have a problem. Did the fire animation on the background HDRI. test render
Below placed VRayMtlWrapper. The shadow is there, but the lighting of a fire is very weak! If I increase the power multiplier that noise will appear. You can see the noise on the official video on the ground -Svetlin Nikolov

Hello! Many lights will produce a lot of noise. You have to reduce the light count. If you are using the Reduced grid light placing, reduce the grid to an even smaller percent of the original, until the noise drops enough. Otherwise, if you are using the Inside or Simple light placing, the lights count parameter is used, so you have to drop it instead of the grid reduction.

You are right! But unfortunately my problem is not solved

      This is the final render

And here render if instead VRayMtlWrapper put normal Plaine.

      This VrayLighting and VrayMatteShadow.
In the last two pictures you can see that the light illumination powerful and smooth. But in the final render for some reason can not see this light.

I use ReduceGrid but Inside or Simple method give approximately the same result. It does not help even Ray-Traced algorithm.

I thought already get coverage from the fire in the render element. And amplify it and blur in the eon Fusion. But did not find the right pass. Lighting can be seen only on VrayLighting and VrayMatteShadow.

well, can you visualize the lights in the viewport and post them here?

            And this image without EnvironmentMap

P.S. It is a pity that the phoenix can not simulate the hot air as in the picture.

Yes, you're right! If I turn off the light. Then the noise will disappear!
But why, then, there is no light from the fire on VRayMtlWrapper. There are only a shadow.

Actually Phoenix can do this. It's the "heat-haze" mode on the Render rollout.

Can you attach the scene here or send it to the support team so we can figure what's wrong?

it can, see the heathaze rendering mode.

about the lights, open the fire panel and there is a button called "preview placing", press it and show us the viewport.
i think your lights have bad placong, perhaps too big or too low in count, we will know when see the image

                    https://www.dropbox.com/s/o82v9bgyym...xport.max?dl=0
This file is converted into the Max version 2014 (I use 2015 max)
If I click PreviewPlacing you will not see the light, because I made a VERY small radius. I changed the settings many times, but the noise is weak or strong but showed himself. VRayMtlWrapper plane while not been strongly illuminated.

Thank you guys that quickly respond and help!

the radius must be big enough, otherwise the lights are entirely hidden in the smoke. the noise is just question of subdivisions, it's not the problem here.

The noise came from the light source. If I turn off the light source noise disappears.

But why is there no lighting from the fire? Is phoenix does not work with VRayMtlWrapper?

And about HeatHaze. Can you please on my scene show, how HeatHaze refracts the air?
I set the mode HeatHaze, then increased to 50 HeatHaze option then to 1000, but did not see how the air is refracted. Changes only the fire.

There was an issue with it in the nightly builds, tomorrow's nightly will be fine
