  • Settings - set to default - BIG problem! - Urgent.

    Hi,

I just set all my v-ray settings the way that I want them, and saved the settings under the pre-sets button on the settings tab. After saving the settings, I then decided that I would like that set of settings to become the default, so that I wouldn't have to re-load the settings every time I want to render. I hit the default button, and said save. Now I have only Default Displacement options under the settings tab!!!

    HELP!

    Max: 2014
    V-Ray: 3.00.07

Please let me know if you need any more information.

    Regards,

    Bill

EDIT: Can an admin please move this to the problems section?

Can you send us vray.cfg file which is located under the following directory:

Name:	kmPJ9G5.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	37.6 KB
ID:	854517

Have you tried to reset the scene from Max button > Reset Scene?
Try to delete vray.cfg file or to move it in another folder.

Have you tried setting the renderer to default scanline and then back? It should reset everything.

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

        Hi all,

So I reset max, and all the v-ray stuff returned, so it wasn't totally broken. But I can' seem to set the defaults at all. I can set it for one file, so next time I open that file the render settings are the same (it's always done that right?), but if I save defaults, teh next scene I open will have the 'as shipped' defaults. Any help with that one?

        Cheers,

Again, sorry for putting it in the wrong place.

        Bill

(do you still want my vray.cfg file?)

Thank you for your update Bill,

In order to save custom/default V-Ray settings that will be used with every new 3DS max session, you will need to create a maxstart file in folder c:\Users\"username"\Documents\3dsmax\scenes

We are working on ability to set a "default" preset directly in the V-Ray > Settings > Presets dialogue. Most probably this option will be available in one of the next 3.x service packs.
