  • C4D To Maya

I have a Vray scene in Cinema 4D, how do i export it to Maya, with all the textures, lighting and cameras intact.

This is a tricky task. As my colleague already mentioned in your previous posts, you can use Post-translate Python Script. In case you are not familiar with Phyton script you can export the geometry in OBJ or FBX format, export the materials with the help of the .vrscene file format and that is where it gets tricky. Because one can not export the Lights and Cameras, he needs to recreate those by hand. In order to match the exact positions of the lights and cameras one can place small objects on the places where they stand (in the original scene before exporting the geometry) and use those for reference when creating the new lights and cameras in Maya.

I am completely migrating away from C4D, i have no choice because the developers of VrayC4D are too slow in their release or they intentionally release it slowly. Many of my colleagues have already migrated. I looked at Vray3.0 in Maya, and never want to look back again at c4d.
