  • White Walls And Ceiling

Hi I am facing problem with white(almost white )walls and ceiling. They are overridden by sort of color that comes from floor(I attached renders). I don't want that In version of v ray 1.5 or 2.0 there was an option in Material Editor in Maps section called GI so I could solve it with this manners however in new v ray I can not find this option anymore. To solve this(I didn't attach render after solving) I changed in v ray options in Indirect Illumination(GI), post-processing->saturation to 0.3. Is there any other way to solve it? Does saturation from post-processing effect all colors and materials(if so I didn't notice that)? To me changing saturation if it works the same as in PS doesn't sound like proper solution. Where is GI map option in materials properties?

Do you have the VRayOverride GI material

Thank you for your tip. I can't find VRayOverride GI material in neither V Ray for Rhino Options nor Material Editor. Will I get the same effect using VRayMtlWrapper as VRayOverrideMtl ? I am working on Rhino 5 and the newest version of V Ray for Rhino.

Workaround could be - use a white override material, save your GI to cache files (maybe you need the IM cache only) and reuse the GI with the full material.

Unfortunately, we don't have the VRayOverride material in V-Ray for Rhino yet. The workaround for now it is exactly what Micha explained. I think it will be a good idea if we bring the GI per material option back.

This only desaturates the GI - that is, bounced light. So that's why it doesn't affect the colors of objects directly (it doesn't desaturate the wood, just the color of light that bounces off the wood and hits the ceiling, making the ceiling seem brown)

So it's not the same as desaturating the whole image in PS.
