  • Polar mapping possible?

    Hi all,

This is my first post, so sorry if its a little simple.

Is it possible to map a square texture on a circular face so that the texture either follows the curve or spreads out radially from the centre?

Tried to do a manual test, but it's not really smooth enough in my opinion.

    Thank you

If you model the surface as a Revolve, you can use the Surface mapping method and then enter the number of repeat you'd like.

      Hi mgibeault

Thanks a lot, just what I was looking for.

      I have an additional question.

Applied the surface mapping to my revolved geometry, and in order to make it fit to the scale I set it to tile UVW. This looks great in the view-port, but it isn't transferred to the render. Here the tile is still 1!!

I'm experiencing the same problem about updating the mapping in the render with both boxmapping and other mapping styles.

      Hope you can help.

      thanks

Do you have a repeat value other than 1 inside the V-Ray texture editor for that material?
Can you share the model or a portion of it?

The problem happen regardless of mapping style and also when I try to start a new file.

What Fernando asked, and I'm sure he's right about this, is that you should enter the desired repeat number in the V-Ray materials bitmap settings, like in the screen capture I attached.

                    I'm not sure I understand.
In the screenshot I attached, you should enter the number of repeats where the values are encircled in red.

                      1. When I click on you link to see the screenshot i get the following message:

                      2. My value in the vray texture editor is 1 for U and V i the repeat value under UVW. I believe that's what you were referring to.
