Rendering a pass for 3d people in animations

The only way to do that would be to simply render them in a separate pass, with their shadows. You'd also potentially need to render a separate reflection pass to deal with that.

anyone? i have a animation with people walking behind items so in some cases on their upper body will be shown and so on, is there a custom shader in vray or render pass that allows for me to extract just this information? ahh man, its so hard to get any information on this anywhere, if it exists its like some big secretIntel core i7-5960x cpu @3 GHz, GeForce GTX 970

Surely you could render out your animation without the people in as one pass then render the people separately in another pass where you make all other geometry in the scene invisible to the camera.
This would mean that the people would still be occluded at the correct points. You would have to use a MatteShadow material in order for the shadows to still be rendered out from the animated people.
You could then comp the two together if you decided you needed the people in there.
