  • Cache in order to render?

I couldn't find any info on this,
Do you need to cache the simulation in order to render on the Farm? we are using deadline for it.
Also can you split out the cache between computers? like krakatoa for example or something like vray DR??

    Thank You

    Hello,

Yes, the simulation needs to be run so the cache files will be created, in order to be rendered.

The important thing with DR is that cache files need to be put on a shared network location so all render machines can access it, and their input path needs to point to that location. The cache files are not automatically transferred between machines, as they could become several gigabytes each, so it's not practical to put such load on the network and local storage of the render machines.

Currently there is no option to split caches between machines in any way. We are considering it though.
