Do you mean the ship.max file? There is no ShipStart.max file even with the official installation.

just decrease the resolution of the scene and it will run on demo build too. many users are starting their projects using the demo scenes as a base. in the beginning all our demo scenes were low res, and this led to bunch of low quality videos, that's why we decided to increase the resolution of the samples up to production quality. this is valid especially for the ship scene, because it is the most used in productions sample scene.
