visRhinoMaterialSync allows you to disable the code that updates the rhino material to match the v-ray material. This can be helpful if you want a rhino material to look different than what the v-ray material will render.

    How to use it.

    1) Run visRhinoMaterialSync with disable option.
    2) Select an object in rhino with a v-ray material
    3) In the material properties panel select edit
    4) Change the color of the diffuse of the material
    5) Normally this would update the rhino material, but since sync is disable you won't see any changes.
    6) Turn visRhinoMaterialSync back on when you want changes to appear in both locations.

Thanks Matt although I'm not sure that I fully understand it. When you say: "updates the Rhino Material" are you referring to the resulting material when I switch render engines from vray to rhino native renderer ?
Normally, the main properties of the rhino material will be kept (albeit only basic) when I switch to the rhino renderer, although the rhino object properties material tab will show "plugin" enabled but obviously I cannot edit it because I'm not in vray.
I'm following your instructions and the only thing I see is that indeed changing a red material color in vray editor from green to red doesn't update the model to red. However, when I switch to the native renderer the model is still green ...
Obviously I'm not getting what you are trying to explain. Sorry.

        palosanto,

You are correct about that being the material used in Rhino Render, but the rhino material is also visible in the "Rendered" display mode in rhino. There was an user that had a workflow where they wanted the material in the Rhino Rendered viewport that different from the material used in V-Ray. This is why this command was added.
