  • Emissive texture is very low contrast

Hi, i am trying to render the emisive lcd screen. I have created the standart materials with diffuse and emissive layer. I've applied bitmap to emissive layer. And get my texture with very low contrast. Black became grey. How can i increase the contrast of the texture on emessive layer?

My settings for material are default and there is no others ligtsources in the scene.

    Thank you for answer.

Your texture isn't real black at the dark areas most. Best fix it and you will get a better result.

V-Ray for Rhino do not correct the gamma on lights, environment and emissive. The reason is because we should use images with gamma 1. However, you can use any image, but you will have to manually fix the gamma. Go to the Texture editor and in the color space use sRGB or you can just change the game value from 1 to 0.4545.

In the past at VfR 1.5 the LDR correction was active for lights, environment and emissive too. I think the current behavior is confusing.

I agree. If you want to use an image as an emissive, let's say you're rendering a monitor or ipad, you're going to do a screen grab or google search and the image is going to be gamma=2.2. it's irritating to have to change the gamma or switch to sRGB in the texture. does anyone use gamma=1 images for emissive? I understand it for lights if you're using HDR, but even then LDR should be corrected automatically. it's very confusing.
