  • Vray ScatterVolume Mat

    Hello,

this material has a great potential for skin shading, do you plan to provide this mat with texture support, own ref/spec support? If yes, when? : )

I have also very specific eye model which need to use mix of more Vray blend materials, but scatter volume mat cannot be used as a coat even if used as a base material in that second Vray blend mat used as a coat. Any tweak planned for this?

    Thank you in advance.

We are working on that , unfortunately we can not provide an ETA on its implementation yet.
Also, I'm not sure I understand your shader network. Can you attach an screenshot or a simple scene with your shader?

        Hello,

Thank you for the screenshot, but we do not see Vray ScatterVolume Material in it.
Can you send us sample scene?

          Hello,

I am sorry for confusion, this is the shader using Vrayskin mats and which I would like to use with Vray ScatterVolume mats instead, I do not have this shader with Vray ScatterVolume mats because it does not work, Vray ScatterVolume mats in the coat slot do not work and this is the problem, Vray ScatterVolume mat works only if used as base.

If needed I can prepare a scene with the shader using Vray ScatterVolume materials.

            Hello,

VRayScatterVolume is designed to be base material for the blend material. So the proper use will be to put VRayScatterVolume as base and then transparent V-Ray Material as coat.

              Hello,

Yes, I know, that´s why I asked if there is a plan to make possible to use this material as coat to build up shaders in this way if needed.

The reason why I need to use it as coat is due to the requirement to use Vray Refractive transparent material as base as you can see in my picture otherwise this Vray mat will be just black, but I need a transparent refractive cornea for my eye model, so I have it as base and skin material on top of it as coat. Unless I am missing something then if I want to use Vray ScatterVolume instead of VraySkin then I have two materials which must be both used as base in my shader, that is the problem.

              Regards
              f.

Can you not use a multi/subobject material as a base and mark the different areas with different IDs?

                Best regards,
                Vlado

                  Hello,

I am using IDs where possible, but the transition between the cornea and sclera cannot be done using IDs, I must use maps.

                  Regards
                  f.
