  • Distributed Rendering with Windows 10 - xmldrspawner

Has anyone tried to run the distributed render spawner on a windows 10 computer and scan for it with a windows 7 (or other) machine?

I have two computers connected to a wifi network, with the same access-point. Both have their firewalls turned off. I can see the windows 7 machine from the windows 10 (I can scan for it in Vray) and it successfully adds it to the list of hosts. When I try the same from the windows 7 machine, I cannot see the windows 10 machine. Anyone having the same problem?

Is anything different about windows 10 which could be impeding the DR spawner's functionality?

tried to get this working for two days but I had my first successful test. After putting the windows 7 and windows 10 to label the network they are on as a "private" or "home" network.
    Here is a tutorial:

obviously disable the firewall for both computers

One more thing -- it only starts working after I discover the windows 10's own render spawner (own IP) from the windows 10 rhino. Only after that does the windows 7 machine pick up the windows 10 server.

I guess it's official: I can't get it to work on windows 10:
