HI! I am posting this here hoping someone can help. I am helping a small business and their IT set up and they use Photoshop/Autocad/Vray 2.0/ Rhino 5. They are looking to upgrade their machines in order to cut down on render times for VRAY 2.0/Rhino 5. I am not too familiar with this software but from what i can tell when they render something it is CPU intensive and from what i have gathered there is no GPU rendering, it all goes to CPU.
My main question is, in building out new machines for them, what is most important.
Core count on the processor?
Clock rate?
Specific insturction sets?
Or perhaps processor/bus cache?
They currently have i7 4770 processors but are willing to go to a multi CPU machine for their next purchase (less of an upgrade\replacement and more of an addition as they are growing) and i am looking at a few workstaion options with dual xeons but i would like to know from a technical standpoint what would be the greatest benefit to them for performance and how this application uses its resources specifically. Also, will this application support GPU rendering in the future? Im sure that we can just upgrade the video card when the time comes though.
Thank you!
