V-Ray Trial for Maya 2016 (OSX 10.11)?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a trial version of V-Ray for Maya 2016 under El Capitan OSX (10.11).
The one on the website seems to be for Mavericks and I'm unable to run that one as it wants root privilege that I'm unable to give. Pretty sure it isn't supposed to ask for that under 10.11

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we're taking a look into vRay in a 3 day class about Maya and Mudbox.

Hi,

The build for Mavericks will work on El Capitan too.
There is an issue with V-Ray for Maya installations in graphical interface (GUI) mode under the new Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11) which will be fixed soon. Until then we found another workaround - you can install V-Ray plugin or V-Ray license server without GUI by following the steps below:

1. Mount V-Ray installation - double click on vray_adv_31001_maya2016_mavericks_x64.dmg file.

2. Open the Terminal.app from /Applications/Utilities and execute the following command there:

/Volumes/V-Ray\ for\ Maya\ 2016\ x64/vray_adv_31001_maya2016_mavericks_x64.app/Contents/MacOS/vray_adv_31001_maya2016_mavericks_x64 -gui=0

(the above command should be a single line)

Then follow the installer's steps in the Terminal. After the V-Ray installation you need to reboot the machine or at least to log out and then log in.

If you need to install V-Ray License Server you should use the same steps.
