  • Any suggestion for getting a Volume Grid Zdepth inside of 3ds Max w/ vray 3.2

I am currently use vray volumegrids with vdbs from houdini. Traditional zdepth methods do not seem to work with these volumes. I see that Vray for Maya seems to have a path for this. Any suggestion for getting a Zdepth inside of 3ds Max w/ vray 3.2

Volumetric Material ID - specifies Material ID color when rendering in any of the volumetric modes. When rendering as an isosurface or a mesh, this will be taken from the assigned material.
Volumetric Normals - can be used to generate render element with volumetric normals. Since V-Ray does not allow volumetrics to write into the normals RE, the result will be written to a separate RE.
Volumetric ZDepth - can be used to generate z-depth render element in volumetric mode. Both the standard V-Ray z-depth RE and a separate RE are supported.
