  • Help! Glass/lighting not coming out...

    Hey There,

VERY new to Vray, and sketchup for that matter (use to show clients what homes will look like, trying to get into more realistic models eventually)
I'm having an issue that I can't describe to find a tutorial.. Whenever I render my images, the glass always comes out very gray, or dark on the inside. I'm not sure what the issue is, if it's the material itself, or something to do with lighting. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd GREATLY appreciate it.

Also, if anyone notices anything that's very wrong with the texture or anything else, feel free to tell me why/how I can fix it.

I'm not familiar with Vray for sketch up but I don't think there is anything wrong with the glass in terms of refraction because you can see the back window through the front.

The reason it is dark is because you have no lights on the inside and you have a bright daylight system so your camera is adjusting exposure accordingly making the inside very dark, it looks like your windows are quite matte so it might be worth checking the material and and adjusting the Glossiness value to a higher number like 1.0

If you want light inside the house you will have to put lights inside, these lights will probably have to be brighter than physically accurate lights because your camera is adjusting exposure to match with the daylight system so the lights will need a similar brightness (this will result in a non physically accurate look)

make sure you turn GI on so that the light scatters accordingly.

As I said I have never used Sketch up so I'm not sure if it's the same as 3ds max but hopefully if I am wrong someone will correct me.

    hopefully this helps. Cheers.
