Any update ?? And in older version ..if VDB cache size is big (1GB-2GB per frame) and network is slow thn vray starts to hang plus Maya crash on farm..Any plan for workflow optimization ??

      Hey,

Does the crash happen consistently? If it can be reproduced, can you contact support and send over a scene and a cache with which it crashes?

Regarding workflow, I'd say give the Phoenix 3 Open Beta a try - https://www.chaosgroup.com/phoenix-fd/maya . Phoenix caches are way smaller than VDBs of the same resolution and thus load and save times are better, there is a viewport GPU preview and you don't need to tweak the render settings twice because the Phoenix volume shader is the same thing that powers the VolumeGrid.

      Cheers,

        Nope,Only when network get slow

Right now here pipeline is Houdini based, So we do sim in pyro >> Export VDB >> VrayVolumeGrid
In future version of Vray, viewport GPU preview for volumeGrid will be supported (without phoenix) ??
