    Hi Akarsh,

There were a couple of possible workflows (that we experimented with) for the laser.
The one that we used at the end consists of:
    > Maya spot light with mapped intensity. A ramp texture was used for the purpose.
    > Flat (single-sided) geometry with the shape of the laser beam. A self-illuminated material was applied to it. The texture was animated in Nuke and loaded as *exr image sequence in Maya.
    > Maya particle simulation with a VRayMtl used as a particle shader. The self-illumination of the particle material is controlled by a V-Ray distance texture. Thanks to that particles close to the beam are glowing green.
    > The light intensity and the intensity of the self-illuminated materials were all connected to the RIG of the scanner. This way I was able to easily animate the whole thing.

This approach gave us the biggest amount of control and that's why we used it for the final shot.

If you have any other questions I'll be happy to answer.

    Best regards,
    Konstantin
