  • How to save .vrscene file

We are trying to figure out how to use a render farm with VRay / Rhino. We want our students to save their model and upload it to the render farm, where it will be rendered with VRay. The first question is, what is the best way of doing this?

I read about .vrscene file - is this the answer? Then the question is, how does one save a .vrscene file in Rhino?

We are still trying to solve this issue - is there no solution?

For managing several scenes and a render farm, you might need a specialized tool such as Deadline. You'll find some informative posts about it here, even a thread about its use in a school environment.
Otherwise, you may assign some nodes to each student and they can then all start renders when they need to?

I don't know if this is still relevant for you but I think I know the solution.

You set up a view in rhino, you apply all the materials etc. your settings are all set.

In rhino go to the task bar where it says "file edit view Curve surface...etc" in that bar you click on V-Ray and choose "export vrScene"
You save it in a file where you can find it easily. Once that is done you just start a render like you normally do.
In the Beta version of Vray you can see the progress window and there it will say "exported Vrscene". Once that popped up you can check the folder which you specified before and if the vrscene is there you can just stop the rendering and upload the vrscene as a standalone.

        Hope it helped.
