  • render PHX alembic as fire and smoke ...

how i can render exported alembic of fuel and smoke channels of phoenix simulate, like as vray render on other renderers or other platforms that doesn't have support VDB volumetric rendering?

    Hey,

We don't have VDB export yet, but it's at the top of the TODO list. The only thing you can do is to export it as a mesh - if you will export it to Alembic, please check the Export panel at the bottom of the simulator.

    Cheers!

well ... i exported fuel and smoke as alembic [see the image] ... but how to render this alembic (like as original phoenix via vray) for other renderers or platforms that does not have feature like as v-ray volume grid?

Until we implement VDB export that won't be possible.

Yup, that's it - alembic can't handle volumetrics, so you can export just mesh. Until we add OpenVDB export, the renderers have to support standard 3ds max volumetrics, which many of them do not. Soon there will be proper Corona rendering though, and Octane are also on it.

you mean i able to render phoenix directly via Corona on future? or just via using 3dsmax atmospheric effect?

                    Can't really say.

With a current Corona daily, I was able to render fire, but smoke cannot cast shadows on itself, which might be an issue on our side, but we need some info from them on how we should approach this with their renderer. Also, you won't be able to render meshes in animation, which is an issue on the Corona side.

We are in touch with the Corona guys, but things will not be moving very quickly as they have a release coming and are busy preparing it.

                    Cheers!

well ... something is better that nothing! :]

but this feature will be available for corona 1.5 and up or corona 1.3 can support this?

                        Hey,

This is the current state of the Corona daily builds, so for Corona 1.5 it would either be the same, or would be improved I hope Not sure what the situation is with older versions, but most likely smoke and fire would not have rendered correctly.

                        Cheers!

                            Hey,

The ball is in their court currently. They have to implement some standard 3ds max callbacks that are currently not okay.

                            Cheers!
