    I'm trying to simulate a water drop hitting the ground so I modeled it at 1' diameter water drop and then set the scene scale to .005 which puts it at a little under 1/10th of an inch across. But the splash still looks like a large water balloon exploding with almost no cohesion or adhesion to the ground. I set surface tension to 1.0 and that doesn't really help the scale look any smaller. Is it possible to have little drops of water like what form on a sheet of glass? What happens is it hits and just spreads out in a super thin sheet, not at all reforming into droplets.

    the most important feature of the small scale is the surface tension.
    the surface tension is switched off by default for performance reasons, so you have to enable it. no need to simulate in real scale, because in the most cases the small scale sims are rendered in slow time (they are too fast for normal speed), simulate in false large scale and render with no slow down, to avoid complications that both the small scale and the slow down produce (just to cancel each other in the final result)
