  • Backburner Simulations not working

    Hi there,

I'ts the first time I want to send a simulation to a Simulation Only License computer.
I was following the manual and I installed the script to the 3dsmax 2017, using only Backburner 2017.
I also installed the script on the Simulation Node machine.
Changed the Output folder to something on the network.

But when I submit it using the PhoneixFD script, it uploads the max file into the Manager, but renders 1 frame ( or some, depends of the render settings ) and stops.
But no Simulation at all is calculated.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hello,

Is the path to the Simulation script correct?

If you submit the scene manually does it work? Here is a link how to do this - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...singBackburner

      by the way...

the script itself looks to be working, because when I execute it in the workstation license it launches the simulation properly.
I also tried to load the script in the Vray Script Loader.. ( pre-render ) not working either...

The Max license to do the simulation, is a render license.... is that a problem maybe?

If I can i'll try to a workstation license of Max...

Oh ! thanks for the reply, I'll try that too thanks!

Yup, the path is correct, also I tried to load it in the Vray Script parameter.

        ....

Using the script for simulation shouldn't require a 3dsmax workstation license.

Are you using the same Backburner and Max versions on both machines?

Hi there, thanks for the help.

The backburner is same in both machines.
We tried to execute it by hand, and the same, performs a render but not the simulation...

We have 1 license for GUI and another for Simulation, but when we checked the licenses set they aprear that both are used by the same machine,
            Is that a thing?
That machine is now on a simulation, so I can't stop it to see if will free the Simulation License.

            Thanks.

Hmm sounds like you can't get license on the second machine.

Are you trying to run simulations on both of the machines at the same time?

With 1 GUI and 1 Sim license you can run simulations only 1 machine at a time.

The GUI license is used to interact with the UI of Phoenix only.

Oh! i see, thats how it works, didn't know, I can't tryit yet because the simulation is 14h left still... but When I free the Sim License, I'll try the Backburner script again, and if it works. then I'll buy some Simulation Licenses

Thanks!! bad that we didn't read about how it worked before, we tried almost every other option hehe...
