  • IES specular reflections?

    Hello,

Do VrayIES lights have specular reflections?
I'm having a scene set up with them, and can't see any specular reflections coming from the IES lights, although they have "Affect specular" checked. They emit diffuse light, but can't see anything on Reflection or Specular channel.
    Is this normal?

I realised, the problem only exists if the material has reflection glossiness value 1.
If I set it to 0.99 the speculars are visible.

Yes, that's exactly how it works. The reflections of the IES/Spot lights becomes visible only when RGlossiness or HGlossiness value of the reflective material is less than 1.

I'm still facing problem with the IES speculars. It looks like they somehow get "cut off" below a certain view angle:

The right row of lights are spherical vray lights, the left ones are IES. I attach the rgb and specular passes.

Can you post that scene file ?

              Dear Tashko,

in the meantime I realised that the IES profile's form affects the specular highlight, that's why the lights which are far away, are not visible in the reflection. Also, cutoff threshold was set to 0.001, this caused the sharp edge of the reflected highlight.

Anyways, can scene files be attached?

I`ve pointed this cutout problem here:

                  http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...-parameter-bug

Unfortunately no reaction on my problem. No matter what cutoff value i set to material and lights.
                  Reflections are always cut off.

Sorry about that. Do you keep this file? Can you send it to support@chaosgroup.com ?
I want to have reproducible scene file for this issue that will be useful for our developers to work on it.
