  • Backup every x number of frames makes the foam flickers

    Hi, an issue I just found is that if I have the backup interval activated simulating a ship in the ocean makes the foam flickers in those frames, for example if the interval is every 15 frames, thos files are bigger than the rest and when renders it lokks there is less foam in those frames. Any idea?

    Hey,

    Usually this means that you have motion blur enabled but you don't export the velocity of the particles from the Output panel - you should have seen a warning about that though. Can you share screenshots of your Simulation rollout while you have loaded a non-15th frame, as well as your Particle Shaders' settings?

    Thanks!

      Hi,

      same problem here.

      Frame 74:
      [GRID: 14 073 345 cells, 351x135x297]
      - Liquid/Temperature (200.00 : 300.00)
      - Smoke (0.00 : 1.00)
      - Velocity (0.00 : 2549.82)
      [PARTICLES]
      - Particles of XML_Rayfire_Dust: 1 193 580 (Pos)
      * Simulated with v3.03.01 Nightly, Build ID: 1706057443 for 3ds Max 2014 from Jun 5 2017

      Frame 75:
      [GRID: 9 508 590 cells, 351x90x301]
      - Liquid/Temperature (200.00 : 300.00)
      - Smoke (0.00 : 1.00)
      - Velocity (0.00 : 2603.96)
      [PARTICLES]
      - Particles of XML_Rayfire_Dust: 1 197 858 (Pos,Age)
      * Backup Frame, can Restore From Here
      * Simulated with v3.03.01 Nightly, Build ID: 1706057443 for 3ds Max 2014 from Jun 5 2017

      Thanks for help.

        Hmm, this looks like a different issue. Even though you have Age enabled in the Source, there is no age for the drag particles in frame 74. Thanks for the tip! Will check it and get back to you.

          Hmm, can't make it happen with a simple scene, maybe there is something specific to your setup that triggers the issue. Would it be possible to send over a scene?

          Thanks!
