  • Sketchup - VRay and Bump Texture

Hi, I've a strange problem with V-Ray render with bump textures on a wall with a rectangular hole.

I explain with an easy example ...

On Top View, draw a rectangle

Pull up to make a solid

    Go on Right View

    Draw a rectangle on face

    Create a Material called BumpMaterial

    Import the .vismat material

The Result with rectangle e without rectangle on the face

How could I solve this ?

    Thanks

    Here the vismat material ..

This is a known 2.0 issue. Add a texture map to the diffuse texture slot and then un check it. This will give SketchUp the UV values and allow V-Ray to read them.

      Hi ted,
I'm sorry but I don't understand when you say "then un check it" ...

I have this material, and click on M to add a texture to diffuse material.

      When Add a blank texture

      and now ?

      thanks !!!!!

With the V-Ray BRDF Layer, You can use a map and have it unchecked. The diffuse layer is a little different. If you Want to use the diffuse layer like that, here's a workaround, in the diffuse layer add a color map set to pure white and you'll get the mapping in the viewport and correct displacement.

I would recommend upgrading to 3.4 when its released (should be soon) because this sort of thing is handled correctly and you won't have issues like this. I believe the beta is still available on the website.

          Hi Ted,
I ask for much if I ask you to share the material to understand how to change my material.
I seem to have already done what you are explaining the workaround.
I put a all pure white bitmap in material diffuse.
Excuse me but I am a novice of vray.
Unfortunately from website is no longer possible to download the beta version of vray.
          Thanks a lot

            Hi Mauro,

I wish I could share a material but I am currently using 3.4 and have not picked up a copy of 2.0 in a log time. You may want to get a trial copy of 3.4 and see how you like it, it might be easier to manage since the bug you point out in this string is fixed.
