  • Surface water wheel spray

This one is really bothering me. I just can't get it right.

This is what I'm aiming for but I'm struggling to get the water to mimmick being thin on a surface and spraying out when the wheel goes through. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers

to be honest, I did a water spray from a fast moving object moving over a wet surface using the fire/smoke sim but emitting particles at the same time. Just rendered the particles as splash (with motion blur) along with the smoke sim, worked well.

I can only put something like this clip up, its not the full thing and just the render pass! Not sure it has aired yet so don't want to risk it

Imagine the backplate is a wet day :P

In comp I just brought out the particles more and also a bit more motionblur seemed to work well. That sim is just a smoke sim with drag particles which dont last too long. Could be a base for yours

How do you get the smoke to disperse with such force like that?

The particles are emitted through the PHX Source, check particles and set to drag etc. Its the same as piping through Pflow but it does it for you (less control of course) but did a decent enough job.

The smoke disperse helped by emitting at quite high velocity from the bottom of the object and closing -Z boundary off. This along with PCG conservation at 100. Just need to tweak things like the dissipation. Also maybe worth tweaking the temperature if you want it to be heavier.. upto what you want it to look like really
