  • Vray 3.4 Displacement

    Hi again,

I noticed that the displacement is not updating in the rendering frame buffer(i tried all the renderings mode- from interactive to production with all possible combination )even if the material is updated in the V-ray material asset preview. The displacement option being enable all the time in the rendering settings.
I think also that I found a solution but I am sure that is not what v-ray developer wanted to be. You basically need to re-add every time(after every displacement setting modification) the material to the desired object if you don't do that and hit render, the VFB will not updated or will not show the displacement.

I am not sure if is only me having this problem but I know from beta that was a problem with the displacement not showing in the render.
If anybody can advise me if I am doing something wrong...

    Thanks

    Hi Sammyciupe,

Can you share a scene in which this is happening?
I did test the displacement and it seems to update properly, even while Interactive Rendering is running.

In my case, in the interactive(GPU or CPU) mode, the displacement settings will not update. If for example: I enter the disp value of 0.5 and hit render(Interactive GPU/CPU) and the render starts rendering correct the disp on the object surface but if I want to change the disp from 0.5 to 4(insane but just to see if there is a difference) without to stop the the interactive rendering the image will do like a pixel refresh but it will remain in the 0.5 value although that in the preview asset material was updated. If I stop and start again the interactive rendering the image will appear with the value of 4 but again if you do any other disp changes... it will take affect if only stop the interactive rendering... which makes the interactive mode not interactive in this case.

And the strange part is that i just closed and reopened(after a bug splash ) the simple scene that i tested before and now all work correct in the interactive mode too...

I don't know what to say anymore :/ ... I will be ready to record the screen next time this will happen so in that way I will have a proof...
