  • Compression Problem

    Hello,

so my compressed frames render differently that my not compressed one. Please look at the image.

Top of the picture is Frame 100 (not compressed). Lower part of the picture is frame 101 (compressed). Lighting seems different. Is this "normal"? Would the only solution to not compress any frames?
    Thank you!

    Daniel

    Hi,
since the compression is not lossless, more compression means lower quality. That's the reason you can choose the amount of compression.

For the second part of the question, write to: support@chaosgroup.com

our experiment show that if you use simple density based opacity, the default compression does not produce observable result. however if you use curve based density, you can easily increase the sensitivity to the small value differences.

thanks for your replies. I am not having a problem with the compression itself. my problem is rather the not compressed frame which visibly pops up every 50 frames (backup interval in my case). i would love to have an option for on-the-fly-compression during rendering to have those frames look like the other compressed ones. the way it is now it seems like i have to resimulate the compressed frames (hope that is possible)

the backup frames are compressed too, the most common reason for different look of the backup intervals is the presence in the render setup of motion blur with no velocity exported, in this case the backup frames are render differently because they have all the channels present and the motion blur is working
