  • Texture Bake with Distributed Rendering

    Hello,

Is it possible to bake texture / render to texture with Distributed Render in Maya? DR works perfectly for stills, and texture baking works great on a single box locally, but when we try texture bake with DR, we get black buckets on the slaves. Is there an error on our part, or is this still on the larger to-do list for Maya/Vray. Thank you for any advice or suggestions you may have.

    Maya 2017 Update 3

    Best,
    Chris

Disregard the previous post. The issue was that DR only works via the Vray render settings, not via the 'bake object' menu items.

Yes, that's correct. Only the texture baking from the render settings works with DR currently.

Hi Yolov, I'm currently trying to bake out an interior scene and I'm getting the same issue as Chris Bahry; If I use the 'V-Ray Baking Options' window to bake the textures with Distributed Rendering on, the slaves don't render correctly, they either render white or black regions. So if I then render via the Frame Buffer with the Baking Engine set to 'Texture baking', the render nodes work but the render stops after rendering just the first object in my vrayBakeOptions set... Is there a way to get V-Ray to render the entire scene's objects with DR on?

        Thanks,

OK, after a bit of playing around I've managed to get V-Ray to render all of the objects with DR on through the VrayTuner plugin, with the Davebake420 script . There is the link below for anybody who doesn't have it, it's SO useful, especially for organising and naming textures in your scenes!

Sorry to get back to you so late. DR doesn't work for the baking options, it only works for the regular render whit baking engine set to "texture baking". That's a limitation that we currently have, but obviously people are trying to get around it with similar scripts.

No, not yet I'm afraid. We can't exactly say when the devs will get to it, but when they do - you'll know.
