  • Rendering issues Sketchup 2017 + Vray 3.4

    Hi guys,

I've been working with sketchup and vray and it is an awesome program. However i have a few problems. Hopefully u guys can help me..

    1) i am working with Sketchup 2017 (pro) and Vray 3.4 on Windows 10 creators update with an i5 7600k and a GTX 1070 8 gb gpu.

    2) i've modelled a bathroom (High render.png) and renderd it in 360 panorama. But the render itself, it is not as crystal clear as for the example picture. Why is mine so dark and pixelated?

    3) are my settings good? check vray settings picture

    4) and last but not least, why is the lamp in the high render.png black? In the sketchup it is white. Also, the scaling of the wall tiles are much more square, in the sketchup version they are like the example.png. What am i doing wrong here?

    5) i've uploaded my sketchup file, can u mayb look at it?

    Thnx

Well, first, you're posting on a sunday so don't expect much reaction so soon
I've had a look at your model. Couple of things that need some work:
      - try rendering without GPU.
      - make sure all the lights work in your model (the one I downloaded was missing a ceiling and lights).
      - Since there's no daylight coming in (also missing a door to enter the bathroom) you need to make sure the lights you place can light the whole scene.
      - Also take a look at your shaders/materials. It looks like a lot of the components are from Vray 2.0. Uncheck the liniear workflow button in every diffuse channel and your materials are lighter.
      - As for rendering, lower your noise limit or use the standard high setting.

      On a side node.
      - Your model seems to be slightly off axis. This makes it hard to texture and draw.
      - Also when modeling make sure to make groups of the different components like walls etc. This way they don't interfere with the glass showerwall for instance.

Please let me know if you have more questions. If you want you can PM me in Dutch if you like

      Best,
      Groeten,

      Peter

Hey Peerman, bedankt voor je reactie, hoe wist je dat ik NL was? Mijn naam zeker? hehe
Ik ga ff verder in het engels anders snappen ze er niks van

Hey man, thnx for the quick response, i guess everyone is sleeping on Sunday lol.

        - try rendering without GPU.
So i renderd without the gpu and the black shading of the lamp was gone, it is a bit better now. I think i got the problem of the render wasnt clear i enough. I didnt wait it to finish, i thought it was done cause it wasnt rendering anymoren but the progress bar shows no 3 percent. So i have to wait longer now
And why is the render better without the GPU acceleration, i thought it was for better and faster results? I have an GTX 1070?

        - make sure all the lights work in your model (the one I downloaded was missing a ceiling and lights).
I dont have an ceiling, i just a flat surface for the sake of it? I used the IES 15 light i guess, now it is working.

        - Since there's no daylight coming in (also missing a door to enter the bathroom) you need to make sure the lights you place can light the whole scene.
Door is on his way, but how do i light the entire room. With intensity? Angle?

        - Also take a look at your shaders/materials. It looks like a lot of the components are from Vray 2.0. Uncheck the liniear workflow button in every diffuse channel and your materials are lighter.
Thnx the linear workflow button made a big difference!
How can i see if the components are from vray 2.0? Are they inferior to vray 3.0? If yes, how can i search for vray 3.0 components in the 3d warehouse?

        - As for rendering, lower your noise limit or use the standard high setting.
I did, but i thought noise setting was for crystal clear image? The higher the better?

        - Your model seems to be slightly off axis. This makes it hard to texture and draw.
Yeah i noticed, how can i reset the model? Cant find the answer on google fast enough..

        - Also when modeling make sure to make groups of the different components like walls etc. This way they don't interfere with the glass showerwall for instance.
This was only for the interior rendering purposing, should i still take the effort to make components?

Last but not least, my buttons of the VRAY buttons are very small, is there a fix for that?
And i cant see the materials cleary, see the image please... am using a Philips tv 43 inch 4k monitor. Resolution is also 4k.

And is there a way to make objects 'cutting' ? For instance, if i download a component from the 3d warehouse, and i want to place it in the wall, how can i make it so that it creates a space in the wall for the component?

And the wall texture is still a square, it should be a rectangle...

Thnx man, i hope that i wont bother u much with this much questions lol
