Why would a company come after some one that cant give them anything? Im an individual, i dont run a business, i have nothing to loose and they have nothing to gain. Are they going to sue an in debt college student?

For me using their product (illegally at that) i have gained not only a trust in the company, but i give them what they really need, advertising. I don't know how many countless times ive said "I wish vray was for this program" or "ohh do you need to render something fast? Use vray, its the best". And i dont know how many times ive shown Auroa to some one and didn't get an "ohh" or "ahhh".

Its ignorant to say we all started from legit demo software or just bought a program. For me using their software im a loyal customer, and once vray goes Maya im 100% on it. Now for me using it illegally, i gain what. I have gained knowledge of the program, what did i loose? Nothing really. What did Chaos gain? A loyal customer, and one that can vouch for them, what did they loose? Well in my view point they didn't loose anything, because i never sold anything done w/ vray, heck ive never even sold any work done in max.

I can see why they closed it to non registered users, its a business move. But last time i checked up on the finalRender forums it was just a joke, and it was no where near what we have had here.

Im sorry man, but Im just not feelin ya. Want to use cracked vray? OK, do that, but dont complain when chaos decides to exclude you from the community in this fairly small way. It could be worse, you could be completely blocked from the forums. And after admitting what you have, you deserve no less.

IMO, this is a community of vray OWNERS, not vray USERS.

ps. I must admit that this whole forum change, while I welcome it, it took me completely by surprise. I didn't think about the ramifications of all the people that must use an illegal version of vray. Call me naive, but I somehow assumed that if you weren't posting stupid "why the screen flickering" questions, then you were probably legal.

Even if you dont use it commercially I think there is a lot of value in buying the software and self teaching. Think of the time and money as an investment in learning new skills.

if you just pirate the software then you have basically obtained the ability to learn a profitable skill for $0....and chaos software have given you something for nothing

set up a buisness (not that expensive), buy the software through it and you will get the $ back anyway as a tax deduction :P (Well in australia you do)...so no excuses

+ the chaos guys should be rewarded for being champions
