  • Unable to render on GPU (GTX 960m)

    hello,
I have a Nvidia GPU 960m and whenever im trying to render using it some things happen:
1- If its a standard pic, it'll turn out very grainy and very dark like the lights are not applied at all.
2- If the render is at 720P it renders but grainy and dark
3- rendering 1080P? 2k? 4k? yeah good luck... sketchup either completely crashes or renders a very small square or 2 in the middle of the image and stops and progress bar reaches 100%.
sometimes it even stays at 0%.
Rendering on cpu works like a charm but takes ages.
I've tried going and setting only the GTX 960m to be used in the extensions>vray>tools>set devices
I've also made sure sketchup is runing on the high end gpu and vray aswell.. rendering is my only problem
is this a driver issue? should i go to an earlier driver? or is there a special advanced setting i have to play with or something?

    log of a 720P render:
render.txt in attachments log for sketchup crash: https://pastebin.com/S7Rx0vQy another problem: Rendering a VR cubemap using gpu also immediatley crashes thanks!

    Hello,

Could you please state which version of V-ray for SketchUp you are using?
Does the issue occur only in certain project or in any?
Do you use Interactive render mode?

When SketchUp crashes, please leave it closed, then open the folder %APPDATA%\Chaos Group\V-Ray 3.4 for SketchUp and open the file VRayForSketchUp.log. Share with us what is written in there.

Please update V-Ray for SketchUp to version (3.40.04). If you are still having trouble, try downgrading your GPU drivers to 376.33.

Regarding the noise quality and difference of output render results between GPU and CPU rendering - please illustrate it with a couple of screenshots and a sample scene (pack it using Extensions > V-Ray > Export > Pack Project).

    Kind regards,
    Peter
